Salina

Salina

Salina, was known in antiquity as Didyme (twin) due to the presence of two high mountains, the highest point of the archipelago and natural reserve. The island is nowadays renowned for its production of capers and Malvasia wine, local typical sweet dessert wine, served cold with typical sesame biscuits.
“Malvasia” wine producers would welcome guests to show their sites and have a taste of their production.

The ‘Fossa delle Felci’ natural reserve in Salina at 962m is the highest point in the archipelago; here visitors can find a variety of flora and fauna along the pathways that lead to the summit of the island. We can organize guided excursions along pathways passing through typical Mediterranean vegetation.

With its spectacular natural setting, Capo Faro restaurant is a beautiful resort situated in a nice garden and their vineyard around. They are in fact also wine producers and wine tasting can be organized in their beautiful set.

Steam baths take place inside a “Thermal Stove”, inspired by the one of Saint Calogero in Lipari, built over 3500 years ago.

Ceramic Workshops

The typical colors and charm of the Aeolian Islands characterize the whole local handicraft and in particular the production of ceramic.
The Aeolian ceramic has an antique tradition that has regained strength thanks to the dedication and the work of the young blood, which have combined the ancient processing techniques with an original version of the antique typical decorations.
